MontageSubs Community is officially launched.

We are a nonprofit open-source community dedicated to connecting audiences, translators, developers, and filmmakers to build an open, transparent subtitle ecosystem.

Who We Are

We are not a traditional subtitle group — we think of ourselves more as builders of the subtitle ecosystem. Our focus extends beyond translation itself to include:

• Tools: Making subtitle creation more efficient and standardized
• Research: Exploring translation theory, localization strategies, and technical standards
• Community: Creating an open, collaborative space where subtitle enthusiasts can meet

Our Mission

Good subtitles are more than translation — they are a bridge connecting different cultures, a medium that allows more people to experience the magic of film and television.

We believe subtitle creation should be open, collaborative, and democratic. We are dedicated to:

1. Lowering the technical barriers to subtitle creation
2. Raising the quality standards of subtitle translation
3. Building an open-source tool ecosystem
4. Facilitating exchange between translators, developers, and viewers
